Great job today. I have attached the Warm up 1 problems and solutions we worked on during practice. The bonus work for this week, MOEMS Jan 2023, is attached.
I have also attached a document that describes the details of competitions and bonus points.
Bonus work reminders:
– The 6 students with the most bonus points will be guaranteed an opportunity to attend MathCounts (as long as they participate in at least one of the school competitions during practice in January).
– To get the most out of the bonus work, students should attempt the problems without looking at the solutions. When they get stuck, they can refer to the solutions to understand how to solve the problem. After they complete the problems, they should compare their answers to the solutions to understand how to solve any problems they missed.
– The coaches do not grade or score bonus work because it is expected that the students have already compared their answers to the solutions
– Bonus work is due the week after it is provided, unless otherwise specified
– To receive credit for bonus work, students need to attempt all of the problems and show their work
– Students will receive a reward (usually candy) when they earn bonus points
– To get credit for bonus work, show your completed bonus work to Coach Ben at practice. The students will keep the completed bonus work to use as a reference.
