We will take the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 8 on Tuesday, January 27. The AMC 8 is a competition designed for 7th and 8th graders. 9th and 10th graders take the AMC 10 and 11th and 12th graders take the AMC 12. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are the first steps in qualifying for the USA team in prestigious international mathematics competitions. The AMC 8 is good preparation for the later tests.

The AMC 8 is a completely optional competition, but I hope most people choose to participate. Due to our January schedule, I will administer the AMC 8, outside of our normal Wednesday practices. I can administer the competition at lunch or after school January 27th (but not both).
