Team,
This week we will explore Prime Factorization and the tricks and shortcuts we can use when we know the prime factorization of a number. And pizza.
Last week’s practice test:
Congratulations to all of you for working so hard and being so focused on the practice test last week. Shout out to Adrian, Max K, and Peter for being the top 3 scores on the practice test. Andrew, Adam, Agam, and Mingsu tied for 4th place. Our top scorer, Adrian, scored a 21 and tied Assistant Coach Evan! Adrian has done the most work on the MathCounts Trainer and was one of the top bonus-work completers last year. It’s good to see hard work translate into results.
I will have the scored papers to hand out at practice this week. While we enjoy recognizing high scorers, this was just a beginning of the year practice. The goal is to use this as a baseline to improve from. One way to do that is to review the questions that challenged you and understand how you would do it differently next time.
As a team, our high miss questions were: #2, #9, #17. The test and solutions are attached for reference.
See you on Wednesday,
Coach Ben
